英國最為人所熟之就是擁有良好並且完善的社會福利制度!! (雖然及不上北歐跟瑞士, 不過已經算是很好的了.)
Rill在問現在英國失業救濟金的金額是多少.那我就跟各位稍微解釋一下囉!!
失業救濟金分成兩種:
1. Contribution based jobseeker allowance
這個是讓之前有工作過, 而且有繳過National insurance 的人申請的.
If you claim Jobseekers Allowance, the amounts that you can expect to receive are
￡34.60 a week for single people aged 16-17*
￡45.50 a week for single people aged 18-24 (including some 16-17 year olds)
￡57.45 a week for single people aged 25 or over.
(*If you are 16 or 17, before you go to the jobcentre you will have to register to do either work or training at your local Careers Service or Connexions.)
2. Income based jobseeker allowance
這個是讓之前沒工作過, 或是之前工作的薪水是low income的人申請的.
￡34.60 a week for single people aged 16-17
￡45.50 a week for single people aged 18-24 (including some 16-17 year olds)
￡57.45 a week for single people aged 25 or over.
Single parents can expect to receive:
￡34.60 a week for people aged under 18
￡45.50 a week for people aged under 18 in certain circumstances
￡57.45 a week for people aged 18 or over.
Couples can expect to receive:
A maximum of ￡68.65 a week if both people are aged under 18
A maximum of ￡90.10 a week if both people are aged 18 or over.
(Please also note that if you are living with your partner, their circumstances e.g. age may also affect your claim, so make sure that you take appropriate advice).
Children, until the day before their 19th Birthday can expect to receive ￡43.88 a week.

也正是因為這種制度, 英國有許多人take advantages from welfare policy. 明明好手好腳的, 卻不去工作, 一天到晚靠生小孩賺錢 P1. 我曾經看過一則新聞, 有一個男的, 他從來就沒有工作過, 而且有7個女生幫他生了11個小孩, 住在英國政府提供的 5 bedrooms house裡 (一個 5 bedroom house在英國的價錢大概是30到40萬鎊, 還不用付council tax P2) 每個月政府還給他jobseeker allowance, childen allowance. 到目前為止, 這15, 16年內, 他已經花掉納稅人250萬鎊.
P1. 英國政府鼓勵生育, 英國政府每個禮拜會補助小孩子的哺育費用.(當然, 只有英國公民或是拿英國PR的人才可以申請!!)
P2. Council tax 是依據房子的大小, 所在區域, 及裡面住多少人而決定你該付多少錢! 付的錢主要是給當地政府運作, 當地警察局, 以及清潔人員的垃圾處理費用. 像我們家只是一間2 bed flat, 裡面住了兩個人, Council tax每年要交857多鎊. (Council tax卻是只要你有住房子, 就需要繳, 除非是full-time student.)
